On the day
Learn the skills and techniques required to make beautiful and unique glass beads. Techniques include bead shaping, correct dot placement, making and applying stringers, encasing, raking and twisting dots and using silver leaf.
You will create enough beads to make your own designer earrings and a bracelet or necklace (or both, if time permits). The beads will be correctly annealed so you can create your own jewellery items at home.
You will also learn about health and safety in the studio, proper use of tools and equipment, glass science and preparation and clean up.
Meet your tutor
Jewellery designer and glass artisan, Leah Kelly, has been creating unique jewellery from hand made glass beads for the past decade. She has recently added fused and slumped glassware to her repertoire and makes a range of custom glass pieces to order.
