Artisans' Challenge

18 February 2011 – 13 March 2011

The Artisans' Challenge Exhibition consists of beautiful and unique hand made pieces created by Cobb+Co Museum's resident artisans as part of the recent Artisans' Challenge.

The Artisans' Challenge required the artisans, many of whom tutor regularly at Cobb+Co Museum, to create pieces on site.  The challenge gave visitors the opportunity to see master craftspeople using traditional skills to produce complex work of the highest handcrafted quality.

Pieces in the exhibition include:

  • a 300kg hand carved sandstone sculpture of a wombat
  • an 'enchanted mirror' hand forged from metal
  • silk pillowcases that took 140 hours to weave by hand
  • a coolaman sculpted from 220 metres of copper wire.
