Carts and drays

Two-wheeled drays were pulled by bullock (oxen) teams.

They were used to carry wool bales from the west to coastal ports.

Carts with metal springs gave a faster, smoother ride.  These were used to take milk and cream from farms to dairy factories.

There were special carts for all sorts of city deliveries, such as bakers' carts, butchers' carts and milk carts.

Carts and drays featured in the National Carriage Collection include an Ambulance Litter, Bullock Dray, Horse Dray, Spring Cart, Spring Cart c1880Tip Dray and Toolburra Dray.
