Travelling Back in Time

Year 3 to Year 10

Discover how people lived in Australia in the past by interacting with objects and stories. Investigate how life has changed over the last 100 years.

  • What was life like for free settlers living in colonial Australia?
  • How did people travel from place to place?
  • How did people communicate with each other?
  • What factors influenced where people settled?

Follow the clues to meet 12 intriguing characters as you explore the National Carriage Collection.  Listen as each character tells their unique story about what it was like to live in Australia before motor vehicles. Students will interact with historical sources and artefacts to develop skills in object interpretation.

All school visits must be pre-booked.
