Curator Conversation - CANCELLED

Ian Waples presents: The History of Three Outback Properties

DUE TO COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS THIS EVENT IS CANCELLED

Curator Conversation is a series of entertaining talks hosted by Queensland Museum Curator Jeff Powell.

When: Wednesday 4 August 2021, 2:00pm

Theme: Ian Waples, Toowoomba author will present: The History of Three Outback Properties

Author Ian Waples has delved into over a century of the documented history of three Queensland rural properties: Isis Downs Station and Portland Downs Station near Isisford in central western Queensland, and Laguna Station near Augathella.

The stories of these stations reflect the broad history of pastoralism in Queensland. Yet Ian also shows how the floods, fires droughts and flies directly affected  individual people. And there are stories of surprising innovation, such as the world’s most modern shearing shed in 1914, and the early 1900s version of a road train.

This event is free with admission.
